Girls Night Out
October 15, 2010This is my first post since abandoning my surname for the moniker of my true love and his motley family. This is me coming back to earth with a haze glazed all over me.
This painting features the legs of two ladies, I think of myself and my ever blooming daughter. Ladies a-clacking on the town, disco fun emanating from their joyous beings.
I had my hen night, pvc snakeskin all-in-one, heels, toilet tissue bridal veil. I was the tart – what fun. Not as classic as these gals. I imagine halo perfect afros and make-up with full gloss lips.
My favourite detail is the rough brown texture that describes their long dance loving legs, the hoops of the dresses and the scrawled outlines of the Beryl Cook like shoes. Beryl was one of my fascinations as I grew. Sensuality, eroticism, Englishness. I love her work a lot.

Intimacy Of Thumbs
September 6, 201027 photos, inspired by what my kid does. It’s a first for me, full of bits i love, and bits that make me wince. I used photo booth and imovie. My approach was to attack imovie without instruction, throwing stills within stills – not knowing what would come out. Thanks to the beautiful music of Lali Puna.

This image has been created with hands, brushes, and a flaming lighter. The first layer is torn from the works of Ovid: Orpheus In The Underworld.
Tragic words peek through layers of burnt fabric mesh. The main character created from burning pulped paper card.
She seems ready to fight the offending blast, with the support of a shrieking bird. Her clenched fist is that of a fetus, how could this defend against a gun blast?
The explosion aims at her hip, the clutter and debris, are ashes and heartache.
The gun doesn’t always shoot from the hip!
